This web Page demonstrates how to organize music files for on-line listening. For
many good reasons, our music tracks are all converted to SWF files using Hootech
MP3 to SWF Converter. This allows tracks to be streamed into the web page.
The problem with multi-track music files is that they can be inadvertently set playing
simultaneously by site visitors. In order to prevent this, and to prevent users from
having to stop one track before starting another, We arrange the music tracks on
separate pages within the site. These pages are not indexed through the sites main
navigation, but instead are brought into an I-frame (Document Frame in WebPlus Language)
with simple text links. The example below shows what we mean.
The above arrangement is far better than placing several music tracks on a single
page. Firstly, the page is easier and quicker to load initially - the SWF files are
only loaded as each track is selected, and secondly, it makes for a more informative
web page. The use of SWF’s can also help protect audio tracks from pirating. By storing
the tracks in a protected folder in your site structure, it’s very difficult for
the SWF to be downloaded directly by extracting the link from the page source. Of
course, it’s not foolproof protection, but it does make life a little more difficult
for the casual music thief.
A copy of the entire WebPlus file is available by CLICKING HERE. However, for legal
reasons, and to make the file smaller the audio files have been excluded.
